Olga Barantseva is a Russian photographer who shoots “dreamlike portraits with real animals”. Moscow-based, Barantseva has built an oeuvre of mesmerizing imagery, “consisting of models posing with animals such as bears, wolves, raccoons, ostriches, owls, crocodiles and more”. Barantseva is at heart a portrait photographer, and took up photography in 2007, combining her love for nature and wildlife to create a style all her own. There is a mystical and fantasy-like theme within her photography too, and all of her photography is taken under natural light. For Barantseva, she says that the “most important thing is the idea, not Photoshop”. Barantseva wants her photos to represent peace and interaction that is possible within the natural world, between humans and animals, and that there is always a place for kindness and love.
