About this artwork
This silky stream flows effortlessly over the rocks and creates a gentle surface that compliments the soft haze in the background. Early morning is the best time to capture images like this in the woods of New England.
Ian Thornberry (USA) was born in 1981 and grew up with a vivid fondness and appreciation for nature and the outdoors in the northeast corner of his homeland. The cool, crisp autumn days offered a bountiful palette of seasonal colours and foliage that swathed the landscape with a rich magnificence.
During winter, rolling hills and river valleys were blanketed with snow and provided a landscape resembling a cross between a Robert Frost poem and a Norman Rockwell painting.
As a self-taught professional photographer, Thornberry drew on the landscapes that he had grown up in for inspiration to hone his craft and be able to reproduce images that captured the beauty and splendour that he saw.
